WHY IT MATTERS
East Africa grows world-class cotton. The world just doesn't know it yet.
The East African Community produces 100,000 metric tonnes of cotton each year, against an export potential of 400,000 MT. However, only 8% of that potential reaches global markets
The gap is not a farming problem. It is a systems problem: lack of traceability, weak certification pathways, disconnected supply chains, and undervalued farmer expertise.
eko·kotton exists to close that gap. We operate at the intersection of farm-level practices, supply chain infrastructure, and global market access so that East African cotton can compete on quality, compliance, and conscience.
What We Do
Farmer Empowerment
We train smallholder farmers across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in sustainable and organic cotton cultivation, improving yields, reducing input costs, and building the practices required for international certifications.
Supply Chain Transparency
Every bale of cotton we work with is traceable. We document the journey from field to gin, building the chain-of-custody records that global buyers need to meet their own sustainability commitments.
Global Market Linkages
We connect certified East African cotton directly to textile brands, cooperative buyers, and fair-trade sourcing programmes that are seeking verified, ethical alternatives to commodity supply chains.
Why East African Cotton
East African cotton is handpicked, long-staple, and grown in some of the world's most fertile agricultural zones. When certified and traceable, it is among the most sought-after natural fibres on the global market.
