We Believe East African Cotton Deserves Better.

eko·kotton was founded on a simple conviction: that the farmers growing world-class organic cotton in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania should be able to access world-class markets and be paid accordingly.

Our Story

Cotton has shaped East Africa's agricultural economy for over a century. It has supported millions of smallholder households, built ginning industries, and created employment across the value chain. But too often, the farmers at the origin of that value have been the least rewarded for it.

eko·kotton was established to change that dynamic. We are building a supply chain model where transparency, certification, and direct market access are the norm not the exception. Where a buyer in Europe or North America can trace their cotton to a specific cooperative in western Uganda or coastal Tanzania. Where a farmer understands not just how to grow better cotton, but why it matters to the person who buys it.

We are early-stage and ambitious. We have a clear model, a deep understanding of the East African cotton sector, and the relationships needed to build something lasting. We invite buyers, funders, farmers, and policy partners to build it with us.

Our Mission and Vision

Our Vision

An East Africa where cotton is the continent's most trusted, traceable, and fairly traded natural fibre and where the farmers who grow it share meaningfully in the value it creates.

Our Values

Transparency in everything we do. Farmer-first in every decision. Rigour in every claim we make. Equity as a non-negotiable design principle.

Our Mission

To connect East African smallholder cotton farmers to global markets through sustainable practices, traceable supply chains, and fair trade building livelihoods and a more just cotton economy.
